Blogger Recognition Award: Someone Actually Likes Me

It's my time to shine! That's right folks, I've been nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award. "What is this?", you may ask. Well, it's no VMA but it's a dope way for us bloggers to recognize each other's strong efforts and everlasting greatness. So thank you, Malalai from for nominating me and making me feel all warm inside. But, enough of my emotions. Here's how it works:

  1. Get nominated
  2. After wiping your tears of joy, write a post to show your award and
    • Thank the blogger who nominated you with a link to their site
    • Describe how your blog got started
    • Give two tips to the newbies
    • Nominate 15 other bloggers to show them you've noticed their awesomeness
    • Let these bloggers know they've been nominated and share the link to your post

How Immaturely Mature got started

Well, it was all a dream. I used to read Word Up magazine. Haha, I wish! Seriously, it all started with me talking shit on Facebook about adulting and the struggles 20 somethings go through. I had an opinion about everything and would share news articles and memes all day every day. My friends would tell me I made their day, so I decided to share my ray(chel) of sunshine with everyone. I think that's really the whole purpose of this blogging thing. Don't we all just want to share our thoughts and inspire others? I initially started in 2014 but took a 2 1/2 year hiatus to handle other affairs. Now I'm back and better and ready for all the blogging action.

Advice for newbies

Well, well, well. You wanna know how to get in good with the blogging life huh? ME TOO. ME TOOO! I'm a newbie myself, so I'm no pro. However, the best two things I can tell you are stay true to yourself and be social. There are tons of bloggers, but only one you. That, my friend, is your advantage. One thing no one can replicate or take from you is your personality. So, use it as much as you can. If blogging was Uno, your personality is your Wild Card. Don't act like a yellow "1" just because you think that's what you have to do to get noticed. Use that personality to throw yourself out there and be social. You can't get traffic or recognition just by promoting your site. You must interact with others in the industry. I know I'm more likely to click someone's page when they show their interest in me or at least spark a conversation. So, make friends. It goes a long way.
